“I swore an oath to the Constitution… not to a king.”
That statement, once whispered in military halls, now echoes across the American landscape like a warning shot.
In June 2020, General Mark Milley—the highest-ranking military officer in the United States—refused to obey then-President Donald Trump’s demand to deploy active-duty military against protestors in Washington, D.C.
His stand wasn’t partisan. It wasn’t political.
It was prophetic.
Fast forward to June 2025. Another order is issued. This time, to send troops into California. Protests rise. Courts intervene. People awaken.
And suddenly, that oath—the one not to a man, but to the Constitution—becomes the dividing line between loyalty and betrayal.
📖 A Prophetic Pattern Repeats
God’s Word has warned us before:
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil…” (Isaiah 5:20)
There comes a time when obedience to earthly powers becomes rebellion against Heaven.
Just as Daniel defied King Darius.
Just as Peter declared, “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)
Today is no different.
⚔️ The Testing of Oaths
The military is not the only institution being tested.
We, too, are being asked:
- Will you stand when pressured to kneel?
- Will you obey the crowd or the command of Christ?
- Will you remember your oath?
An oath to speak truth.
To live clean.
To carry His message no matter the cost.
🙏 What I Heard in Prayer
“The time of sifting is now. The lines are being drawn not just in governments, but in hearts.”
God is watching not just what we do publicly… but what we defend privately.
General Milley’s refusal may seem political to some.
But to others, it was prophetic.
He remembered his oath.
Will we remember ours?
