Trust the Silence: When God Whispers in Stillness

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

There’s power in stillness.

Not the kind of silence that feels like abandonment. But the kind of stillness that holds you, teaches you, and makes you listen deeper than words. In stillness, God does not shout. He doesn’t need to.

I’ve asked God the same question a hundred times. Not once has He rolled His eyes. Not once have I felt brushed off or belittled. On the contrary, I’ve often felt uncomfortable asking again. And yet—every time—I’ve received an answer. Each one immediate, each one patient, each one full of love. God is never tired of speaking. We’re just too loud to hear Him.

Psalm 46:10 tells us: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

This verse holds more weight than most people realize. Stillness is not laziness. It is sacred. It’s the moment your flesh stops striving and your spirit starts discerning. In stillness, ego quiets. In stillness, faith grows.

When you are still:

  • You no longer chase answers, you receive them.
  • You no longer fear silence, you recognize it as God’s voice.
  • You no longer walk in confusion, because you’ve learned to lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

Stillness refines. Stillness restores.

I used to think silence meant being forgotten. Now I know it means I’m being guided.

God will answer you every time you ask—but only if you’re quiet enough to hear it.

So be still. Let your spirit listen. Let go of needing to control. Trust that every pause is on purpose.

Because even when you feel like nothing is happening… Heaven is moving.
